Vintage Fabric Jewelry

My grandmother used to quilt.  She is in her 90s now and hasn't sewn for ages.  Still, though, I remember her quilting supplies piled up in her living room.  I have the quilt she made me for my 8th birthday (my golden birthday!).

My aunt found a pile of quilt squares in Grandma's house.  The larger squares will be made into quilts.

There was a stack of teeny tiny squares.  Most of these squares were one-of-a-kind.  They are all vintage fabric (pre-1980s).  Whatever were we going to do with all these itty bitty beautiful bits of fabric?

It took me a year to figure out what to do!  I'm so happy with how the jewelry has turned out.  I made a bunch for myself and my sisters.  The rest are for sale in my Etsy shop.

Over 50

Etsy has changed so much since I was first selling.  It's harder and harder to get noticed because the number of items has grown so much.  I think this is a really good thing for buyers (I'm a buyer, too!).  But, it means that I've had to learn how to sell on the "new" Etsy.  One of the things I keep reading is that having at least 100 items for sale in your shop will often generate sales.  So, with that in mind, I have reached a mini-goal!  I now have over 50 items listed in my shop!

These earrings were the 50th item listed:

HandmadeMN challenge: FAMILY

I joined the group HandmadeMN.  They run a challenge every month.  This month's theme was FAMILY.  I entered these earrings.  They are made with vintage quilting fabric passed down to me from my grandmother.  These vintage fabric earrings are for sale in my Etsy shop (Kibbles 'N Knits).

Go vote for your favorite entry!  Voting closes February 15.
